  Model 890 Microcomputerized BOD₅ (Biochemical Oxygen Demand for 5 Days) Analyzer is designed by the principle of pressure difference. When the water sample is put into incubator, keep the culture temperature at 20±1 ^oC for 5 days, because of the biochemical oxidization, the organism in the sample will be converted to the oxides of nitrogen, carbon and sulfur, etc, and the gas of carbon dioxide will overflow from the water then be absorbed by the potassium hydroxide (or sodium hydroxide) in the culture bottle, so the air pressure in the sealed culture bottle will reduce. Measure the pressure difference and give a data processing by microcomputer, the measuring result can be displayed and printed.
